PARISH AGREES TO MEET AGGRIEVED FANS

Steve Parish has agreed to meet a group of supporters affected by seat reallocations as the HF05 saga continues.

The supporters, all of whom have been forced to move from block E, have been voicing their displeasure at the situation and released a statement on Twitter earlier this week addressing the issue.

statement
UNHAPPY: The current season ticket holders in Block E are clearly displeased at the proposals.

The HF05 had boycotted home games this season following allegations against the club, claiming they had failed to deliver on a promise to move them from the corner of the Holmesdale to behind the goal, into block E. It has been glaringly evident that the fanatics are integral to the atmosphere, as Selhurst Park has lost its fortress-like aura. Coincidentally (or not), Palace are yet to win or even score at home this season.

“The manner in which it has been handled is appalling. A lack of consultation and subsequent change of mind from the club.”

Following discussions and uproar from supporters at the situation, the decision was taken to oust block E supporters from their seats in order to grant the wishes of the HF05, who hope to turn the entire Lower Holmesdale into a bouncing singing section within a few seasons.

“The Holmesdale Fanatics greatly aid the atmosphere at Selhurst and moving them to the middle of the Holmesdale stand makes sense in respect of improving the atmosphere,” said Matt Woosnam, a Palace fan and writer for the Independent.

“But equally that means displacing approximately 300 season ticket holders at the back of Block E.

Some supporters who sit in block E had been demanding as much as £2000 in compensation, causing a huge divide amongst Palace fans on social media. Those who were unhappy with being moved from their seats were labelled as ‘selfish’, with younger supporters who support the move being accused of ‘not being real fans’.

“I think people ought to consider how they would respond if the roles were reversed,” said Woosnam.

“It’s not about being selfish, it’s about ensuring that at the very least, there is a proper process in place. Each individual has a right to their own opinion on it and a right to oppose it.”

It’s becoming increasingly clear that there will be no way to appease everyone in this situation. Those who sit in Block E have every right to be annoyed at being kicked out of their seat, but it’s also crucial that the HF05 return to Selhurst ASAP.
